LaTannia Ellerbe - violin
A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. LaTannia Ellerbe seeks to share the love of Christ through all styles of music.  Both soulful and schooled, LaTannia fist learned music in the church but has gone on to receive her bachelor degree from Vanderbilt University, her masters from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and her doctorate in violin performance from the University of Minnesota.   
Since her youth LaTannia has exceled in a range of ensembles.  She played Latin music with Charanga Tropical for many years before leaving in 2013 to take a teaching appointment at the Bermuda School of Music on the island of Bermuda.  She is very excited to return to the ensemble in 2015 to join the tour to the International Danzón Festival in Havana, Cuba.
 
LaTannia has attended numerous classical festivals including Brevard, Medomak Conductor's Retreat, Meadowmount, and the Colour of Music Festival.   In addition Charanga Tropical, her non-classical credits include recording with Grammy winning gospel artist, The Sounds of Blackness.  She has also been featured on albums by Tonia Hughes-Kendrick and noted Christian rapper Ryan Daniel.  Most recently she was commissioned to compose and premiere new work at the Bermuda National Gallery.
 
When not performing, composing, or recording LaTannia maintains and active teaching schedule.  At the Bermuda School of Music she teaches over thirty private students and conducts two orchestra.  In her  spare time, LaTannia enjoys playing scrabble and trying to figure out the gadgets on her smart phone.
