Erika Blanco - violin

Erika Blanco has exceled in music since her youth.  Originally from South Carolina, Erika attended the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, where she received her bachelors degree in violin performance.  As part of her studies she worked with noted teachers Stephen Panchaud and Christian Teal. 

Erika relocated to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota where she received her masters degree in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy. While at the University she studied with Suzuki pioneer Mark Bjork.  Now pursuing a full time career as musician and teacher Erika has established herself as an exceptional violinist across a range of styles. Erika performs chamber music as a founding member of the Lux String Quartet and orchestral music with the Quad City Symphony.  In addition to playing Latin music with Charanga Tropical, Erika also enjoys jammin’, stompin’, and shakin’ in most any other musical setting: country fiddle, folk, rock-and-roll, and more.
 
As a teacher Erika boasts an active studio, working with students of all ages. With Suzuki-influenced approach she strives to nurture an appreciation for beauty, collaboration, and the learning process.
